Donna J. Jones 1931-2026

Donna was born Oct. 5, 1931, in Youngstown, the daughter of George and Theresa Hobart.

A 1950 graduate of South High School, Donna married the love of her life, James Earl Jones Sr., on June 14, 1950. With her husband, Donna proudly raised her son, James E. Jones Jr., also of Poland.

Donna lived a full life, studying art and interior design at Youngstown State University, always exhibiting an artistic eye in decorating her home and accessorizing her personal style. In addition to owning and operating two local hair salons, Donna volunteered with the Mahoning County chapter of Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), advocating for neglected and abused children. She loved all animals, socializing with her friends at card club, reading and shoes. After her husband’s retirement, the couple traveled the world, visiting more than 20 countries, including Ireland, Portugal, Turkey, Greece and Egypt.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Judy; and her dear husband of 68 years, Jim. She is survived by her beloved family: son, Jim Jr.; daughter-in-law, Sally; granddaughter, Dr. Jean Blair; grandson-in-law, Richard Blair; and great-grandchildren, Richard and Elly Blair.

A private celebration of Donna’s life will be held at a later date.

Donna’s family wishes to thank the memory care staff at Masternick Memorial as well as Akeso Hospice nurses for their kind, compassionate care at the end of her life.
