Diane E. Schermer 1945-2025

Diane was born June 29, 1945, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Thomas and Dorothy Wagner Arne, and lived most of her life in the Youngstown area.

She graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 1963 and received her nursing degree from the Youngstown Hospital Association. Diane worked as a registered nurse at the former Southside Hospital, as well as hospitals in Erie, Pa., and Tampa, Florida. She retired from the former Northside Hospital, where she served in the intensive care unit.

Diane was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir. She also enjoyed birdwatching.

She leaves her son, Steven Schermer and his wife, Stacey, of Florida; two granddaughters, Brooke and Hayley; her sister, Donna (Allen) Alesi of Salem; nieces, Melissa Eckenrode and Laura Smith; and nephew, Alan Bartlett.

Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Devon, Cara and Dr. Roy, and the staff at St. Elizabeth / Mercy Health Medical Center, ICU Department, Boardman.
