Daniel A. Delisio 1941-2026
COLUMBUS — Daniel Albert Delisio, 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 23, 2026.
Born Feb. 19, 1941, in Lowellville, Dan lived a life rooted in family, education and quiet joy.
Dan was a proud graduate of Lowellville High School, Class of 1958. He went on to earn his degree in education from Youngstown State University and later completed his master’s degree in education at Westminster College. A dedicated educator, Dan influenced and inspired countless students throughout his career at Champion High School, Liberty High School and the Trumbull County Joint Vocational School. Educating was not just his profession but his calling.
Family was always at the center of Dan’s life. He was the beloved husband of Barbara M. Gioppo Delisio, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. He was a devoted father to Geoff (Christine), Christopher (Stephani) and Bryan (Brooke) and a proud grandfather to Maggy, Jimmy, Teddy and Bella. One of his greatest joys was sharing simple moments with his grandchildren — especially a doughnut and a good conversation.
Dan was preceded in death by his sister, Ester Gorski (Daniel). He is survived by his sister, Arlene Granitto (Leonard), along with many loving brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Outside of family and education, Dan had a deep appreciation for life’s everyday pleasures. He loved traveling, running, photography, cooking, fishing at Lake Milton, reading constantly and learning something new whenever he could.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, at Holy Family Parish, 2729 Center Road, Poland, OH 44514.
A private interment will be in St John’s Cemetery.
Dan will be remembered as a steady presence, a lifelong learner and a man whose influence reached far beyond the classroom and into the lives of everyone who knew him.
