Betty J. Javorsky 1932-2026

LOWELLVILLE — Elizabeth “Betty” J. Javorsky, 93, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Jan. 18, 1932, in Lowellville, a daughter of the late John M. and Elizabeth Marzinko Yasechko.

She attended Holy Trinity grade school and graduated from Struthers High School in 1950. Betty worked as a bartender at Lisko’s Bar; she also worked at Thrifty Meats Shop, Robbins Furniture and the St. Elizabeth Hospital credit office. She later got into the wedding cake business, making cakes for the local community and even having a wedding at the U.S. Naval Academy in Maryland.

Betty was a foster mother for seven children and later adopted two children. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Struthers for 93 years and a member of the Slovak Cultural Society. She was a volunteer long-term care ombudsman; Betty enjoyed traveling, polka music and dancing.

Betty is survived by her children, Thomas Javorsky and Beth Becher; three sisters, Agnes Cipriano, Kay McCarthy and Ginny Markovich; and her grandchildren, Brooklyn Becher and Joey Becher.

Along with her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Javorsky, whom she married Jan. 30, 1954, and who died Nov. 5, 1996; her daughter, Diane; and her brother, John Yasechko.

Visitation will be 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, at the Kirila Funeral Home, Struthers, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Struthers.

Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery in Lowellville.
