Anthony C. Angelo 1940-2026
EDINBURG, Pa. — Anthony C. Angelo, 85, passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 20, 2026, surrounded by his family at his home.
Born Feb. 17, 1940, in Youngstown, he was the son of Michael and Carmel Zokle Angelo.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Merceda “Dolly” Grace (Diana) Angelo, whom he married April 25, 1964.
Anthony was a graduate of Union High School and was employed as a foreman with the former City Welding.
Among his many interests, Anthony enjoyed hunting, frequenting antique shops and Christmas, especially decorating their home. He often traveled to the mountains and made many trips to Florida and Niagara Falls.
Anthony, affectionately known as “Happy,” lived up to his nickname every day. He was rarely seen without a smile and had a gift for making new friends wherever he went.
Deeply committed to his faith, Anthony was very active in the church and proudly served as the head of the St. James Men’s Group, which he founded and led for many years.
Above all else, family always came first. He cherished his loved ones deeply and found his greatest joy in his three grandchildren, who referred to him as “Pop,” whom he loved more than anything.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Anthony J. Angelo and Charlene Fanno; three grandchildren, Mark, Rosemary and Carmen Doman; and two sisters, Rosemary D’Apolito and Phyllis Caparso.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers, Michael and Phil Angelo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at St. Mary Church, 124 N. Beaver St., New Castle, Pa., with Father Aaron Kriss officiating.
