Anna M. Oravitz 1927-2026
STRUTHERS — Anna Mae Oravitz, 98, of Struthers, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, at her home that she shares with her son, John.
She was born on Jan. 13, 1927, in Monessen, Pa., a daughter of the late Joseph and Elvina Fleming Mattie.
Growing up during the Depression, Anna Mae often commented on how she led a poor, simple, and plain life, never asking for anything and had a very happy childhood in spite of it. This would leave her to believe in later years to never complain, and accept things the way they are, and still feel good about it.
Throughout her entire life as a homemaker, Anna Mae’s thoughtful kindness and empathy towards others was only surpassed by her love of family. This inspired her to want to memorialize her future passing by writing down on a small memo pad a simple, short reflection about each family member, over 40 years ago, reassuring her love. It is as follows:
My First Born: Richard John Oravitz
July 17, 1951,
What a happy day.
I never had a baby doll
Not really
Now I have a live doll.
We named him Richard
So, he would be rich
Well… Some Day.
Love You So Much, Mom.
My 2nd Born: Kenneth Joe Oravitz
August 21, 1954
What a beautiful baby
We just moved in our new home 1952
We were so happy. Then, along came this beautiful baby.
As he grew older life got tougher
He just couldn’t make it
Miss You, Love You, Mom.
My 3rd Born: Joseph Edward Oravitz
December 25, 1957
Oh, it was a blessed Christmas.
He was a big, content, happy baby.
He slept and ate, never gave me any problems,
My wonderful Christmas present.
Love You Very Much, Mom.
My 4th Born: John Kevin Oravitz
July 29,1959
Was born a week too soon
My neighbor had to rush me to the hospital.
He was in the 8lb range and some oz’s.
He was a cute, beautiful baby
Life Gets Better John
Love You Forever, Mom.
The best has yet to come… Their Father.
My wonderful husband,
He took care of me when I needed him the most.
Always tells me – he loves me.
He didn’t get many A’s in school but I give him an A+…100%
Love you, more and more.
Your wife, Anna Mae, Skeetso, Sandy & Mom.
I am just a memory.
Love me in your thoughts
Go on with your lives
Just don’t forget me.
Till we meet again,
Love Forever, Mother
