William E. Leonard 1939-2025

BOARDMAN — William E. Leonard passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, with his loving family by his side, at the age of 86.

Born Oct. 2, 1939, in Youngstown, he spent his life devoted to his family and his work.

A graduate of Ursuline High School, he served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Bill retired as a supervisor from GM Lordstown.

His faith was deeply important to him, and he actively participated in St. Christine Church, where he contributed to their homebound ministries and the Novena, providing support and companionship to those in need.

Bill was a man of many passions; he had a profound love for football and golf. However, nothing brought him more joy than the time spent with his family. He was a devoted husband, inspiring father and a beloved grandfather. His greatest legacy lives on in the love and values he instilled in his family.

Bill is survived by his wife, Diana L. Slee, whom he married May 14, 1966; three children, Lisa (Stephen) Bednarski of Solon, Kelli Leonard of Boardman and Lancey (Meghan) Leonard of Streetsboro; grandchildren, Abigail, Emily, Margaret and Katherine; a great granddaughter, Anastasia; and many nieces and nephews.

William was preceded in death by his parents, John and Aileen Gibbons Leonard; a sister, Alice Traikoff; and brothers, John “Bud” and Richard Leonard.

Friends and family are invited to gather for the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025, at St. Christine Church.

Following the services, Bill will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.
