Scot W. Gruver 1962-2025
BOARDMAN — Scot W. Gruver, 63, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 20, 2025, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family.
Scot was born June 17, 1962, in Youngstown, a son of the late Edward L. Gruver Sr. and Lorena D. Baumgarner Gruver, and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a 1981 graduate of Boardman High School and worked in the automotive parts and paint industry for many years.
Scot attended Youngstown State University and earned his welder’s license, skills he put to use both professionally and around the home. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, had a deep interest in history and was always eager to learn something new. Handy, resourceful and dependable, Scot was affectionately known by family and friends as a true “jack of all trades,” someone who could fix just about anything and was always willing to lend a hand.
Scot leaves to forever cherish his memory, his eight siblings, Janet (David) Haladay of Boardman, Edward L. Gruver Jr. of Boardman, Mary (Greg) Gonda of Boardman, Wayne Gruver of Boardman, Theodore (Diane) Gruver of Champion, James Gruver of Boardman, Christina (Mark) Moore Davis of Boardman and Ann (Daniel) Flaningan of Eagan, Minnesota; many nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and many extended family members.
A private celebration of Scot’s life will be held at a later date.
