Patsquale ‘Patsy’ Sorriento 1947-2025

POLAND — Pasquale “Patsy” Sorriento, 78, resident of The Inn at Poland Way, passed away Monday evening, Nov. 24, 2025.

He was born Sept. 1, 1947, in Youngstown, a son of Steve and Angeline DeTallo Sorriento. Patsy was a beloved brother, son and friend whose kindness and joyful spirit touched everyone who knew him.

Though his family circle changed over the years, Patsy found a true and loving family within the caregivers and friends at RaeArc Industries and The Carousel Center, which provided supportive housing and a day program for adults with developmental disabilities. He had been part of this community since 2011. To all of us who knew him, we were more than support staff; we were his family, and he was an unforgettable part of ours.

Patsy lived a full and active life. He participated enthusiastically in the Special Olympics, competing in track, bowling, golf and softball tournaments against other agencies. He worked proudly at Pine Industries and enjoyed spending time looking through newspapers and magazines, a familiar routine he looked forward to each day.

He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh and joke with the people closest to him. Patsy also loved to travel, especially on trips to Virginia Beach with his caregivers, where he found joy in the simple pleasures of the ocean and good company.

Patsy shared a long and meaningful friendship with Richard “Timmy” Stanton, his closest friend. He was surrounded by many compassionate caregivers throughout his life, and he held a special fondness for Novella. He also carried the memory of his longtime girlfriend, Mary Dotts, close to his heart.

Patsy loved old Westerns, especially “Gunsmoke” and “The Andy Griffith Show,” and he enjoyed listening to Conway Twitty and classic oldies. True to his Italian roots, he loved a good plate of spaghetti and meatballs. Those who visited him knew he was exceptionally neat and organized; everything had its place, and he took pride in keeping it that way.

Born and raised Catholic, Patsy carried his faith quietly but sincerely throughout his life.

Patsy was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, John; and his beloved longtime girlfriend, Mary Dotts.

Patsy will be remembered for his gentle heart, his humor and the joy he brought into the lives of everyone who knew him. He leaves behind a community that loved him deeply and will hold his memory close.

Thank you to the nurses and staff at The Inn at Poland Way for the compassion, kindness and love you gave Patsy throughout his stay with you.
