STRUTHERS — Marie Phillips, 102, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, at Hospice of the Valley-Hospice House.
Born May 5, 1923, in Youngstown, Marie was a daughter of the late Paul and Mary Franko Judin. She was a 1941 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School.
On Sept. 18, 1947, Marie married the love of her life, George J. Phillips. The couple shared more than 60 wonderful years of marriage, spending much of that time traveling across the United States and creating countless cherished memories together. George preceded her in death on Aug. 14, 2008.
Before her marriage, Marie worked at Judin’s Market, the family-owned store on Robinson Road in Campbell, where she enjoyed meeting many wonderful people. She was also employed at Buffalo Pressed Steel Company, Strouss Department Store and Youngstown Emergency.
Marie was a member of the Slovak Club, Christ Our Savior Parish-St. Nicholas Church, the Infant Jesus of Prague, Altar and Rosary Society, and the Ohio Photo Club at Boardman Park. A true social butterfly, Marie loved being active, meeting people and staying involved in her community.
Above all, Marie cherished her role as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Patricia (Michael) Almasy of Columbiana; son-in-law, Chuck Campbell of Struthers; granddaughter, Carolyn (Tom) Styranec of Cranberry Township, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Grace and Bradley; and her sister, Mildred Olenich.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marie was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Campbell.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Maplecrest Nursing Home and their staff for making Marie feel at home these past two years.
Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, and from 9:15 a.m. until time of the prayer service at 10:15 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2025, at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland, OH 44514.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at Christ Our Savior Parish-St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 764 Fifth St., Struthers, OH 44471.
Marie will be laid to rest privately in Green Haven Memorial Gardens.
