Jean A. Kettler 1942-2025

EASTMAN, Ga. — Jean A. Kettler, 83, passed away peacefully, Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025, in Eastman, Georgia, with her loving family at her side.

She was born Oct. 28, 1942, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Allen N. Daily and Olive R. Rosky, and was a lifetime resident until recently moving to Georgia.

Jean graduated from South High School in 1960. She graduated from LPN school in 1976 and from the University of New York with her associate degree in nursing in 1986.

She was a registered nurse and head of orthopedic surgery at St. Elizabeth Hospital prior to retiring in 2005.

Jean belonged to American Legion Auxiliary Post 472 and Youngstown Fraternal Order of Eagles #213. She also was a member of the VFW post on South Avenue in Youngstown.

She was a very social person; she loved spending time with her friends at the clubs she belonged to.

Jean would help when they placed flags for the veterans, potluck dinners and holiday parties for the kids and the adults, plus anything else they needed help with.

She loved to sing karaoke and to decorate for the holidays — Jean had over 20 or 30 T-shirts and sweatshirts for each holiday.

Jean enjoyed going up to Geneva-on-the-Lake, where she owned a cottage for over 40 years. After her husband and mother passed away, she would spend the winters with her kids and grandkids in Florida before moving there in 2020, and then to Georgia last year.

She married the love of her life, Kenneth Kettler, on Aug. 17, 1991. Sadly, he passed away just shy of their 10-year anniversary in August 2001.

Jean leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Richard Putko of Boardman; her daughter, Christine (Ted) Jones of Eastman, Georgia; her grandchildren, Lisa (Jason) Guthrie, Rachel Jones, Brandon (Rachel) Elsass and Alex (Zainab) Putko; and her bonus grandchildren, Ann Michelle (Michael) Odom and Rachel Ray.

She also leaves her bonus children, Jackie Richards of Struthers and Keith Kettler, Kelly Kettler, Kathy Noel and Chirs Kettler, who all live in Iowa.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by Kyle Kettler.

Family and friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, 2025, at the Fox Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman, followed by a memorial service at 4 p.m., celebrated by Deacon Paul Lisko.

Jean will be buried with her husband in Lake Park Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Edward J. Fox & Sons Funeral Home, 4700 Market St., Boardman. Family and friends of Jean may visit www.foxfuneralhome.org to view this obituary and to give condolences to the family.
