James R. Grace 1939-2025

CANFIELD — James R. Grace passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, at the age of 85.

He was born Dec. 19, 1939, in North Lima, to John Singer Grace and Miriam Rohrer Grace.

Jim grew up on Diehl Lake in Ellsworth. He attended Ellsworth grade school and subsequently graduated from Canfield High School in 1957.

Jim enjoyed Scouting and worked summers at The Boy Scout Camp, he was proud to have earned his Eagle Scout award.

In 1958 he enlisted in the army and thereafter was at Ravenna Arsenal, until he was stationed in Turkey. When his tour in Turkey was up, he was transferred to Fort Jackson, South Carolina to await discharge.

After his service, Jim began working at McNicholas Transportation companies as a billing clerk. He worked his way up in the company and became one of its executives. He later started Compass Transportation in Alabama.

In 1991, Jim retired and developed his skills as a woodworker. In addition he loved golf and tried to golf everyday at Tippecanoe Country Club, or at courses he was visiting in the south. He was quite accomplished and had 12 holes in one.

Jim leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Kathleen (Kathy) Woolard Myer Grace; six children: Jeffrey Grace, Tracie (Dr.Charles) Bogdan, Amy Grace, Timothy Grace, Mark Myer and Robert (Nancy) Myer; Seven grandchildren: Brooke Bogdan, Madelyn (Chris) Toth, Peyton (Tyler) Cugini, Jacob (Jenna) Grace, Parker Grace, Abigail (Josh) Mech, Ryan Myer; and one great granddaughter, Conley Cugini; brothers, Jack (JoAnn) Grace, Gerry (Janet) Grace and Tom (Claire) Grace; in addition to many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 4, 2025, at Higgins Reardon Funeral Home, 3701 Starrs Center Drive, Canfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 5, 2025, at St. Michaels, Canfield.
