James Patrick Calcagni 1952-2025
CANFIELD — James Patrick Calcagni, 73, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday afternoon, Dec. 28, 2025, with his loving family by his side.
He was born Aug. 2, 1952, in Youngstown, a son of the late Patrick and Louise Ferrante Calcagni. Jim was a proud graduate of Chaney High School, Class of 1970, where he played linebacker for the football team and was inducted into the Chaney Sports Hall of Fame. His football career continued at Adrian College, where he graduated with a degree in business in 1974 and was also inducted into the college’s Sports Hall of Fame. In 2005, he was inducted into the Curbstone Coaches Hall of Fame for his football career.
Jim was the manufacturing general supervisor for Packard Electric Plant 10, where he co-invented and retained the patent for returnable cable containers.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica.
He served as treasurer and secretary for the Northeast 8 Athletic Conference. Jim was always looking to play a round of golf at Mill Creek Golf Course with his many golf buddies. He was a lifelong Cleveland Indians fan.
Left to cherish Jim’s memory are his wife, the former Debbie A. Naples, whom he married Aug. 6, 1977; son, Dr. Christopher James (Michelle) Calcagni; daughter, Angie (James) Carchedi; sister, Patty (Phil) Gizzi; brothers, Ron (Carol) Calcagni and Mark (Jacqui) Calcagni; and grandchildren, Angelo and Dante Carchedi, Nash, Easton and Trae Calcagni. He also leaves his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dr. Robert (Donna) Naples Sr., Karen (Rick) Ames, John Naples; and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend thanks to Dr. Robert Naples Sr., Dr. Lori Hemrock and the staff of the Hope Center for Cancer in Warren, Dr. Robert Naples Jr. and Ohio Living Hospice, with special thanks to employees Diane and Jessica.
Calling hours will be 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, at the Fox Funeral Home, to celebrate James’ life.
