Henry C. Gross 1938-2025
PALMYRA TOWNSHIP — Henry C. Gross, 87, passed away peacefully into eternal rest Monday, Dec. 29, 2025, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 21, 1938, in Carpentertown, Pa., the son of the late Lewis Gross and Sarah G. Hixon Gross.
Henry had lived in Palmyra Township for over 51 years and was formerly of Lake Milton. He worked in the paint booth at General Motors Lordstown for 30 years, retiring in 1999, and was a member of UAW Local 1112.
Henry married the love of his life, Priscilla J. Pitt, on Sept. 9, 1961; they enjoyed 64 years of marriage together until her death on July 30, 2025.
He loved watching football and NASCAR, mowing his grass and being outdoors.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Priscilla; one daughter, Carolyn L. Gross; two brothers, Robert and Norman Gross; and one granddaughter, Rachel Lichty.
He is survived by two daughters, Gloria Lichty of Palmyra Township, and Cheryl and Jerry Wiseman of Lake Milton; five sisters, Gladys Gross of Mount Pleasant, Pa., Louise and Emerson Beal of Titusville, Pa., Phyllis Povlik of Mount Pleasant, Pa., Margaret and James Hood, also of Mount Pleasant, and Judy Vokes of Kecksburg, Pa.; one brother, Harry and Elizabeth Gross of Mount Pleasant; six grandchildren, Steven, Michael, Alexandra, Dannielle, Timothy and Rane; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 6 p.m., with calling hours 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, Jan 2, 2026, at the James Funeral Home in Newton Falls, with Pastor Jennifer Dorn officiating.
Cremation will follow the service. He will be laid to rest beside his wife, Priscilla, in Palmyra West Cemetery, Diamond.
