Gertrude J. Pastorie 1933-2025

She was born Oct. 9, 1933, in Canton, to Alva Guy and Ardina Susan Seabolt Boggs. She was the youngest of 11 children.

Gertrude moved to Youngstown in 1957, where she worked as a secretary for Strouss’, CapGemini America and Brandywine Apartments, where she also resided for more than 20 years. Gertrude also led a Girl Scouts troop on Youngstown’s West Side for many years. She had a lifelong love of cinema and movies, dancing, decorating, crafting and organizing.

Aunt Tiny, as she was affectionately known by her family, will be sadly missed by her daughters, Judy Pastorie, Roseann Pastorie and Jayne Kalenits Pastorie; her grandchildren, Tony Amrich, Sean Amrich, Rich Shaffer, Juliana Gibbs, David Kalenits and Tina Kalenits; great-grandchildren, Jack, Harper, Elliana, Noah and Lexi; and brother, Al Van Pelt of Canton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph C. Pastorie, who passed away Dec. 15, 1996; a son, Joseph C. Pastorie; a granddaughter, Chassidy Roth; and nine siblings.

Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, at Schiavone Funeral Home. Friends and family will also gather from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, all at the funeral home.
