Elouise K. Bayer 1955-2025
LISBON — Elouise Kathryn Bayer, 70, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Elouise was born June 15, 1955, in Salem, and was a beloved daughter of the late Andrew Floyd and Elouise Kathryn Chamberlain Miller. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, whose life was defined by her caring and great love for others.
Elouise was a 1973 graduate of Beaver Local High School, where she found her beautiful voice while singing in choir (four years). She was also involved with the Pep Club (four years), Masquers & FBLA (three years) and Jr. and Sr. BOE. She was also a graduate of Youngstown State University, majoring in social work, then beginning an amazing career as a Licensed Social Worker.
Elouise started at M.V.I. in Home Care & Hospice, then at Southern Care Hospice, and as a medical social worker at Greenbriar Healthcare Center, finally retiring from the Area Agency on Aging. At the Area Agency on Aging, she worked in many capacities helping others, but her efforts assisting Mercy Health with creating a new Care Transition Intervention program in 2013 led to an article in the Youngstown Vindicator, noting her efforts and explaining the program’s goals.
She was known to say that her father was her first boss, growing up on the family farm in Columbiana County. Elouise worked at the Frosty Cream in Lisbon when she was younger and later became a semiprofessional actress at the Salem Community Theater.
She attended a School of Cosmetology, finding a friendly home at George’s Beauty Salon in East Palestine prior to attending YSU to achieve a degree in social work.
Before Parkinson’s took her amazing voice, Elouise enjoyed singing karaoke at various places. When she walked in, they handed her the microphone!! Her voice sounded like many famous artists, notably Patsy Cline, Cher and Bonnie Raitt.
Elouise is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Lloyd F. Bayer Jr.; daughter, Amy McGuckin; brothers, John (Gabriela) Miller and Charles Miller; sister, Freda (James) Flask; nieces and nephews, Michelle (Deborah) Pierce, John (EumMe) Pierce, Brooke (Leonard) Acker, Stephanie (Jack) Moore, Joyce Ribarich, Janice (TJ) Denofrio, Jennifer Ribarich, Nichole Flask (Thomas Picklow), Samantha (Bobby) Bills, Angie (Erik) McCambridge, Ashley (Josh) Culp and David Snyder; as well as many cousins; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, Elouise also was preceded in death by her son, Aaron McGuckin; sisters, Andrea Macuich and Leslie Miller; and by her niece, Lori Snyder.
Most of all, Elouise loved life in spite of many challenges and she had a loving affection for everyone she met.
A celebration of Elouise’s wonderful life will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025, at the Eells-LeggettStauffer Funeral Home, with Dana Blackburn officiating.
