Dawn M. Owens 1958-2025

Dawn is survived by her husband, Fred Owens, Ph.D., and daughter, Elisa Owens, also of Austintown. She also is survived by her sister, Cynthia L. Reed of Wellsville, and brother, Donald R. Schneider of Akron.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Jane A. Scafide; her mother, Grace Schneider; and father, Donald Schneider, all of East Liverpool.

Dawn was born July 6, 1958, in East Liverpool. She graduated from Beaver Local High School and Youngstown State University, where she majored (BSBA) in operations management. She completed an advanced credential in accounting, which was her occupational love.

Dawn worked locally with the Monday Musical, Youngstown Country Club and the accounting firm of Schroedel, Scullen and Bestic. She continued her accounting activities as an independent contractor, specializing in landscaping and pharmaceutical businesses.

In addition to her business career, Dawn was a hardworking individual who strove to help those around her and always to achieve excellence.

She was a woman of deep faith and attended Western Reserve United Methodist Church.

She loved to grow flowers and herbs, and she enjoyed photography and cooking.

She will be remembered as an excellent mother, a loving wife and sister, and a leading figure in the community, having served for 15 years on the Austintown Board of Zoning Appeals.

She was devoted to her pets, Timmy, Little Dickens, Tribble, Luna and Kendrick.

The family will receive relatives and friends 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2025, at Lane Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Russ Adams officiating.
