Charles R. Gilmour 1939-2025

LORDSTOWN — Charles Robert Gilmour, 86, passed away peacefully at 2:22 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2025, at the St. Joseph Health Center.

Chuck was born Feb. 13, 1939, in Niles, the son of Fred and Elizabeth Davis Gilmour and has lived in this area all his life.

Chuck was a 1957 Niles McKinley High School graduate and was a United States Army Veteran.

He worked at Niles Outboard and taught small engine repair at the Gordon D. James Career Center in Lordstown for several years. He retired in 2005, after 20 years at Delphi – Packard Electric.

He was a member of the Lordstown Christian Church and the Antique Tractor Club of Trumbull County. For many years he was active with Lordstown Boy Scout Troop 20. He loved history and was active in historical reenactments, especially the Mounted Calvary Unit of the War of 1812. He loved drag racing in the 60s, scuba diving, fishing, sailing, boating, blacksmith work, traveling, an avid reader and tending to his horses.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Susan Cottrill Gilmour, whom he married Dec. 16, 1967; son, Michael (Tori) Gilmour of Lancaster; daughter, Kay (Raymond) O’Neill of Liberty; four grandchildren, Whitney (Brent) Carney, Mackenzie Gilmour, Liam O’Neill, Laura O’Neill; three great-grandchildren, Maverick, Kollins and Parker; and sister, Mary Baker of Niles.

Chuck was preceded in death by four brothers, Benjamin, William, Ronald and Jack Gilmour.

A family gathering will take place in the future.
