Catherine Corradetti 1936-2025
POLAND — Catherine Corradetti, 89, passed away peacefully from heart failure on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, at Hospice of the Valley, with her children by her side.
Cathy was born Sept. 11, 1936, to George and Delia Fares Hanna.
She grew up in a large Lebanese family, where she learned traditional cooking from her mother and grandmother and was a member of St. Maron Church.
Cathy graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1953. She married the love of her life, Tony Corradetti, Oct. 10, 1959. They moved to Poland where they raised their three children in a house filled with love and laughter and were members of St. Luke Catholic Church. Cathy later returned to the work force where she rose through the ranks to become a regional supervisor for Portamedic. She cherished the retirement years she spent with her beloved husband, until his passing in 2009, after 50 years of marriage.
One of Cathy’s countless talents was cooking and her memory will live on through the many recipes she has passed down. She also enjoyed shopping, puzzles and reading, especially mystery novels, and excelled at needlework, winning a blue ribbon for one of her embroidery creations at the Canfield Fair.
Cathy adored her family and treasured their many visits and phone calls. As the matriarch of the family, Cathy was always willing to lend an ear and offer support or a solution to any problem, and her wisdom and presence will be missed tremendously. Her home was open to all, and “Situ’s” house served as the gathering place for everyone, from neighborhood kids to large family events.
In addition to her husband, and her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Hanna, Josephine Hanna and Georgette Powers.
Cathy is survived by her son, Tony Jr., with whom she made her home; and daughters, Kara (Dave) Goist of Cranberry, Pa., and Kris (Bart) McPherson of Poland. Cathy was a proud Situ to grandsons, Joey and Danny Goist, whom she adored beyond measure. Cathy is also survived by her sister, Betty Hanna Phillips of Jacksonville, Florida; brother-in-law, Jack Powers of Arvada, Colorado; nephew, Ted (Jackie) Niarhos of Miami; niece, Christine (Mitch) Stone of Jacksonville, Florida; nephew, Tim (Frances) Niarhos of Nashville; nephew, Eric (Lyn) Powers of Thornton, Colorado; and many cousins and extended family members.
As Cathy’s children, we felt privileged to have our mom for 89 years, and it was our honor to be able to help her out the last few years. Whatever she needed, she knew that one of us would be there to take care of it. We would also like to thank Dr. John Marakas and Dr. Niraj Niraula, for their compassion and care.
In accordance with Cathy’s wishes, private services were held.
If you would like to honor Cathy’s memory, please consider a donation to your local library or food bank, or the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown.
Arrangements were entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi Brothers and Lellio Funeral Home, 4442 South Ave., Boardman.
Family and friends are encouraged to offer prayers for the family by visiting the Book of Memories at www.rossifunerals.com.
