Shirley Mae Hahn 1947-2025

AUSTINTOWN — On Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, Shirley Mae Kloss Hahn joined her devoted husband Dean in eternal rest, just a short few weeks after his own passing.

A lifetime resident of the Youngstown area, she spent the majority of her life on West Calla Road in North Lima, though she was under the watchful care of Briarfield Manor in Austintown at the time of her passing.

Shirley, the third of four children, grew up on Earl Avenue on Youngstown’s South Side, where she graduated from South High School in 1960. She worked briefly for Mahoning National Bank until after her marriage to Dean on Feb. 16, 1963.

She was a devoted dog and human mom who kept herself busy with church and volunteer activities, including the North Lima Food Bank and the South High Class of 1960 reunion committees. Shirley was also the treasurer and bookkeeper for Dean’s construction business, Hahn’s Services, until the business was shuttered in 1995.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Jon) of Saint Louis, Missouri; sisters, Doris (Dennis) Croasmun of Harlingen, Texas, and Sue (Rick) Straight of Boardman; and more than 35 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her nephew, Edward D. Kloss of Santa Fe, New Mexico; her brother, Edward J. Kloss of North Lima; and their parents, Melvin “Bud” Kloss and Rojeanne “Ro” Wall Kloss of New Middletown; as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law.

A shared memorial service for Shirley and Dean will be held at a later date, with interment to follow in Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield.
