Richard M. Kovach 1968-2025
NEW MIDDLETOWN — Richard M. Kovach, 57, passed away peacefully at his home after a long illness, Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025.
He was born July 31, 1968, in Youngstown, a son of Paul R. Kovach Sr. and the late Roseann M. Colick Kovach.
Rick was a lifelong resident of New Middletown. He graduated from Springfield Local High School in 1987. He worked at Sears for over 16 years. Shortly after Sears closed, he worked for Everflow Eastern, then Donnell Ford.
Rick was a lifetime member of the Mahoning Sportsmen’s Club in Hillsville, Pa. He enjoyed taking trips to the casinos, but his greatest love was fishing, especially with his family. Every chance he got he was on the lake, and if you went with him, you were guaranteed to catch fish. He was a kind and giving soul; he will be deeply missed by those who knew him. His final epitaph is “GONE FISHING!”

Dundics (Les); nieces and nephews, Amy Grieco (Rob), Nicholas Dundics, Michael Dundics, Brigid Vanek (Jim), Nora Kovach and Tristan Kovach; uncle, Nicholas Colick; cousins, George Stephens, John Colick, Jason Colick and Adam Colick; and several great-nieces and -nephews. He is also survived by his best friend, partner and caretaker of 20 years, Joann Bussey, and her family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Roseann M. Kovach; grandparents, John and Carmena Bartlone Colick, and Paul R. Kovach and Vera Hamilton; uncles, John (Butchie) Colick Jr. and Michael Colick; and his aunt, Ruthann Colick.
