Phyllis J. Watson 1929-2025
NORTH JACKSON — Phyllis J. Watson, 96, passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 31, 2025, at Austintown Health Care Center.
Phyllis was born Sept. 20, 1929, in Youngstown, the daughter of the late Henry and Alberta Ekis Seelbaugh. She was a 1947 graduate of North High School in Youngstown and married her high school sweetheart, Calvin Watson, in 1950. Together, they built a loving home and raised three children.
A devoted homemaker, Phyllis was a member of First Federated Presbyterian Church in North Jackson, where she was active in the Christian Women’s Group. She was well known in the community for her abundant blueberry patch and even authored her own cookbook. Phyllis also loved collecting antiques and tending to her garden, passions that reflected her appreciation for beauty, tradition and care.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Calvin; her daughter, Carol Lundquist; and her sister, Jake Seelbaugh.
Phyllis leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Richard (Kathleen) and Bruce (Patty) Watson; her grandchildren, Megan Larue and Corrine Lundquist; and her sister, Fern Heckert.
She was laid to rest beside her husband, Calvin, in Pineview Memorial Gardens.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
