Iris ‘Jean’ Rotz 1931-2025

POLAND — Iris “Jean” Rotz, 94, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, at The Inn at Poland Way, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born March 4, 1931, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Charles and Beulah Meese Powell. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and worked for Burton Supply Company the majority of her life.

Jean was the heart and soul of her family as a loving mother and devoted wife whose 75-year marriage was a beautiful example of enduring love. Together, she and her husband built a life filled with laughter, warmth and unwavering devotion to one another. Their bond was the true picture of what it means to live and love deeply. Family was her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into every moment spent with them.

She had an effortless sense of style and a love for fashion that showed in every outfit — always perfectly accessorized and full of personality. Her home reflected the same care and pride she carried in herself — always spotless, welcoming and filled with love. She had a natural touch with plants and flowers, tending to them with the same tenderness she showed her family. Being outdoors, barefoot and surrounded by her garden was where she felt most at peace.

With a spark that made everyone smile, she was feisty in the best and most endearing way. She loved her bingo nights at The Inn and cherished the friendships and laughter that came with them. Her grandchildren will never forget her famous snack drawer, always stocked with their favorite treats and waiting for their visits, and her great-grandchildren loved her buttered noodles. She filled every space she entered with love, warmth and a joy for life that will forever be remembered.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughters, Cheryl (Louis) Mamula of Lowellville and Linda Rotz of Lakewood, Colorado; her grandchildren, Amanda Hoagland, Alyssa (Tyler) Walker, Adrienne Sepesy and Andrew (Ali) Mamula; great-grandchildren, Noah, Alex, Micah, Jayden, Rocco, Nolan, Emersyn, Roman and Jackson, with great-grandbaby Rosie on the way; many nieces, nephew, great-nieces and great-nephews; and Tom Williams, who was like a son to her.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 75 years, Lewis Paul Rotz; brother, Charles Powell; and sister, Lois Winifred.

Per Jean’s request, there will be no calling hours or services.

The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to the staff and nurses at The Inn at Poland Way and Buckeye Hospice for their compassionate and loving care of Iris in her time of need.
