Gloria J. Hum 1930-2025
POLAND — Gloria J. Hum, 95, passed away peacefully, Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025, at Aventura at Assumption Village, surrounded by her loving family.
Born Aug. 20, 1930, in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Werner and Alta Clay Weingart.
A graduate of Goshen High School, Gloria married William A. Hum on Sept. 19, 1953. Together they shared 43 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 1997.
Gloria worked as a secretary for several years alongside her husband in the family business, Hum Plumbing Company.
Gloria was known for her love of flower gardening, baking and cooking – especially her famous pies, which earned her the affectionate title of “the pie lady.” She enjoyed sharing her delicious pies with her church and community, and was happiest when surrounded by her family. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother.
She leaves behind her children, Vicky (Glenn) Wehner of Kirksville, Missouri, Jeffrey (Karen) Hum of Poland, Timothy (Aimee) Hum of Canfield and Rebecca Sue (James) Manning of Columbiana; stepdaughter, Carol (Joe) Coleman of Pensacola, Florida; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Karen Ozenghar of Salem.
In addition to her parents and husband, Gloria was preceded in death by her siblings, Dolores Richard, Larry Weingart, Shirley Phillips, James Weingart, Linda Brutz, Wanda Julian, Jean Krepps and Elsie Myers; as well as her special companion for 18 years, Olin Sheely.
Family and friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of the service at noon Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, at Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
Gloria will be laid to rest beside her husband in Paradise Community Church Cemetery, Canfield.
