Florence E. Takach 1931-2025
AUSTINTOWN — Florence E. Takach, 94, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, Nov. 15, 2025, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family.
Florence was born Aug. 23, 1931, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late George and Ann VanDyke, and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a graduate of The Rayen School and devoted many years to helping others. Florence worked at Leonard Kirtz School for Developmentally Disabled Children and later as a workshop specialist with developmentally disabled adults at MASCO, roles that suited her compassionate and patient nature.
A woman of quiet faith, Florence attended Highway Tabernacle. She enjoyed ceramics, taking walks, tending to her flowers and yard, and spending time with her sisters — whether visiting, going out to eat together or taking day trips to Lake Erie. She also loved weekends at various campgrounds and cherished the time she spent babysitting her nieces and nephews.
Florence leaves her son, Peter J. Takach Jr. and daughter-in-law, Gay Takach of Austintown; and her three sisters, Eleanor Martin of Youngstown, Dolores Mastro of Boardman and Ruthann (Larry) Baltes of Poland.
Her husband, Peter J. Takach, whom she married in 1953, passed away July 11, 1981. In addition to her parents and husband, Florence was preceded in death by her siblings, George, Elmer, Leroy, Bill, Lawrence, Wilma, Anna Lou and Helen.
Family and friends may call 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.
