Elizabeth Badaski 1929-2025
AUSTINTOWN — In loving memory of Elizabeth “Betty” Badaski, who passed away Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025.
Betty was born April 20, 1929, the daughter of Clarence and Wick McMullen. After graduating from Canfield High School in 1946, she went on to earn a degree in business administration from Youngstown College.
She began her career working in the Youngstown Sheet and Tube offices. In 1952, she married Robert “Bo” Badaski and left work to raise a family. She and Bo were happily married for almost 40 years and had two children, Bill and Barb.
Betty cherished her role as wife and mother, often spending time with her family playing games and cards, swimming at Holiday Sands, going to the movie theater and enjoying dinner out. She especially loved family vacations at the beach.
Once her children were in school, Betty reentered the workforce, first as an office manager and then managing Cutlery World at the Eastwood Mall alongside her husband, Bo, for many years. She later worked in cosmetics sales at Joseph Hornes and then Dillard’s until the age of 75.
Her favorite pastime throughout her life was shopping with family and friends, and it was a must to have a beautiful hairstyle and manicure. She also enjoyed exercising with friends, traveling, especially to California to visit her son, golfing, bowling and going to the casino.
Betty’s most cherished roles were those of a grandmother and later a great-grandmother. She loved spending time with all of them, making them laugh, buying gifts for them and having parties. Family was truly at the heart of her world.
Betty lived a full and active life. She made many friends throughout her life, cherishing the memories she created with them. Those who knew Betty will remember her for her warm smile, charismatic laughter and positive outlook. She was a loving person who loved to have fun and brought joy to all who knew her.
A woman of faith, Betty attended Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for many years and her faith served her well throughout her life.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Badaski; her parents, Clarence and Wick McMullen; and her two sisters, Marie McPhee and Margaret “Peggy” McMullen. She is survived by her two children, William “Bill” Badaski (Donna Badaski) and Barbara Burley (John “Jack” Burley); her three grandchildren, Daniel Burley (Amanda Burley), Shannon Gennaro (Anthony “Tony “Gennaro) and Mark Burley; and her five great-grandchildren.
There was a private memorial service held at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home on Thursday, Nov. 20.
The family wants to thank the many compassionate caregivers at Briarfield Manor and Akeso Health Care in Austintown.
