Dustin L. Hilbert 1987-2025

YOUNGSTOWN — Dustin Lyle Hilbert, 38, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025.

He was born March 27, 1987, in Youngstown, a son of Donald Lyle Hilbert and Sally J. Sedmak Hilbert. Dustin was raised in the Youngstown area and prided himself in being a “Rustbelt Warrior.”

A 2005 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, Dustin continued his education at New Castle School of Trades and received his associate degree in small engine repair. He was most recently employed as an operator at Ultium Cells in Lordstown.

A true poet, Dustin’s songwriting, paired with his musical prowess, allowed him the opportunity to perform as part of a band as well as a solo artist. He found peace in creating beautiful, unique music and sharing it with the world.

Away from the microphone, you could often find him “catching some wind” on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Long, spontaneous drives to Cleveland and Pittsburgh were his kind of therapy.

Of all the things that brought him joy, being a father was at the top of his list. He loved his family and never missed an opportunity to talk about his wife and kids.

A truly charismatic, engaging, free spirit, Dustin had no shortage of friends. He could make a lifelong friend after just one conversation.

Dustin is survived by his wife, Jessica Taafe Hilbert; parents, Donald and Sally Hilbert; son, Jude Hilbert; stepdaughter, Harlow Beadle; sister, Dana (Mike) Bodnar; father- and mother-in-law, Jerry and Cindy Taafe; and nephews, Dalton and Mitchell Bodnar.

A funeral service will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel, 4303 Mahoning Ave. There will be calling hours starting at noon Saturday at the funeral home..

The family asks that you take a page from Dustin’s book and come as you are – wear a pop of color or Harley-Davidson apparel in his honor.

Dustin would invite everyone who knew and loved him to walk like a zombie and burn one in his memory.
