Donna Mitovich 1934-2025

POLAND — Donna Mitovich passed away peacefully, Monday, Nov. 17, 2025, at Aventura Nursing Home.

She was born June 7, 1934, in Warren, the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Mary E. Hocevar Spelich, and was a lifelong area resident.

Donna graduated from Warren G. Harding High School in 1952. Soon after, she began working at General Motors, then got married and started her family.

Donna started working on the Strip in Niles at the Living Room Restaurant and Cherry’s Top of the Mall until 1976.

She married the love of her life, Nicholas Mitovich, on July 17, 1976. They celebrated 27 years together until he passed in 2001.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, where she was very active.

Donna was a member of the mothers’ club at the church and the Avala Tamburitzans Serbian folklore group.

She loved the holidays and always made everything look beautiful and decorated. She was an outstanding cook and baker.

Donna’s biggest passion was playing slot machines and traveling to the casinos in Las Vegas. She played with her son Michael when he lived there. She also enjoyed Mountaineer and the racino, as well as Atlantic City, New Jersey, when she lived with her daughter and grandchildren.

Donna will always be remembered for her impeccable style and taste.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving daughter, Johnene M., and son-in-law, John Lenkey; and her three beautiful grandchildren, who were her whole world, and she helped raise them when they were young, Victoria Rosic, Elizabeth Rosic (fiance, James Kenny) and Luke Rosic, all of New Jersey.

Donna also leaves her sister, Carol Durst of Summerville, South Carolina, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael J. Baker, and sisters, Mary Ann (Gilbert) Lalli and Dorothy (John) Michalakis.

Donna’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation for the love and care that was shown to her at Aventura, especially nurses Alexey, Sabrina and Lindsey, and her aides, Teesha, Matti, Ashley, Johanna, Nichole, Windsoft and Marina.
