Catherine L. Desimone 1940-2025
YOUNGSTOWN — It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Catherine Desimone on Sept. 18, 2025, a loving mother and friend to all who knew her. Cathy died after a short illness at Briarfield Place in Boardman. She was 84 years old.
Cathy was preceded in death by her husband, William Desimone, and son John Desimone.
She is survived by son, David Desimone of Wisconsin; brother, Richard Elosh; and sister-in-law, Vickie Rader Elosh of Columbus.
Cathy’s nurturing spirit, unwavering support and boundless love will forever live on in the hearts of her son, David, and goddaughter, Patricia Simon.
Cathy was a lifelong resident of Youngstown and enjoyed a long career working for the Youngstown City School District.
Following her retirement, Cathy was involved in several senior organizations around town and enjoyed attending programs and exercise classes at the YMCA, the Poland Library and Mill Creek Park. Cathy also helped coordinate class reunions for her alma mater, Ursuline High School.
In addition to her community service, Cathy was known for her sense of humor and caring personality. She had a generous heart, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Cathy was also an avid reader and lifelong learner, staying interested in both activities right up until her passing.
Cathy’s memory will be forever cherished by her family, friends and colleagues, and her spirit will continue to inspire us all. In our hearts, Cathy lives on, and we will forever honor the legacy of a remarkable woman who made a lasting impact on all those that knew her.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
