Carol J. French 1947-2025
VIENNA — Carol Jean French, 78, passed away on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday afternoon, Nov. 27, 2025, surrounded by her family, at Hospice House in Poland, following an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 15, 1947, in Youngstown, a daughter of Paul and Anne Schuyler Trupe.
Carol was a 1965 graduate of Vienna High School. She worked for a time for General Fireproofing and the former Packard Electric Corp before beginning her career as the longtime organist for Grace Lutheran Church in Austintown.
She married Ronald E. French on March 19, 1977. Together they shared 33 years of marriage and many happy memories. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2010.
Carol’s life revolved around her faith and family. She took great pride in being a part of so many special moments and occasions providing beautiful music to so many. She also enjoyed gardening and working in her yard, and taking trips out West, especially to Colorado. Her greatest joy was spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she dearly loved, for fun and gatherings. Her favorite times were French family game nights playing cards and Scattergories.
Carol was a kind, extremely generous, giving, selfless woman who always desired to serve others. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by two children, James (Sarah) French of Brookfield and Suzanne (Scott) Groves of Canton, Georgia. She also leaves behind three siblings, Elizabeth Trupe of Niles, Paul (Amy) Trupe of Fowler and Linda Trupe, also of Fowler; and five beloved grandchildren, Chloe (Julian), Grayson, Rebekah, Chase and James “JJ.”
Besides her husband, Carol was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Michael P. French.
Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025, at Hartford Community Church, 3334 state Route 7, Hartford, OH 44424.
Friends may call 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Hartford Community Church.
