Thomas Hays Lago 1937-2025
GREENVILLE, S.C. — Thomas Hays “Tom” Lago went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025. He passed away peacefully, at home. Tom was a resident of Cascades-Verdae in Greenville, South Carolina.
Born May 1, 1937, in Jamison Memorial Hospital in New Castle, Pa., he was the son of Alfred W. and Genevieve K. Thomas Lago.
Raised in Bessemer, Pa., he attended the former Bessemer High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army, served in the Signal Corps and was honorably discharged after six years of service.
He was a former member of IBEW Local 2241 and the National Association of Management (NAPM) in Youngstown.
After marriage to Janet Edwards on Oct. 10, 1964, in Zanesville, the couple lived in Poland before moving to Greenville in 1988.
Tom worked at Panelmatic Inc. in Youngstown, and Carter and Crawley Inc. in Greenville, retiring in 1999. He was a former member of The Road Presbyterian Church, PCA.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Edwards Lago, on Sept. 20, 2010; his parents; and a sister, Janice L. Pelto of Bessemer, Pa.
Tom’s wishes were that he be remembered as he was and that there be no flowers, calling hours or memorial services.
