Stephen J. Tayala 1961-2025

He was born Dec. 6, 1961, in Warren.

Stephen married the love of his life, Marianne Tayala, on Dec. 13, 1984, and together they built a beautiful family and a life filled with love.

Steve, affectionately known as “Pops” and “Opa,” is survived by his wife and best friend, Marianne Tayala; his children, Kirsten (Todd) Coonce and Matthias (Tabitha) Tayala; and his grandchildren, Deklan Coonce, Remi Coonce, Oakley Tayala, Berkley Coonce and Tatum Tayala. He is also survived by his father, Dale Tayala.

He was preceded in death by his mother and brother, Larry Tayala.

He proudly served in the United States Army from 1980-1983. Following his service, he dedicated his life to his greatest passions — his family and his children’s and grandchildren’s sports. He also had a love of politics and enjoyed thoughtful discussions of it with current events.

Steve will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was known for his booming voice, passionate conversations and warm hugs that made everything right in the world.

He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will be cherished forever.
