Robin K. Hanni 1951-2025

YOUNGSTOWN — Robin Kim Hanni, 73, of Youngstown, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Robin was born Nov. 2, 1951, in Youngstown, the son of Don L. and Leila Roberts Hanni and was proud to grow up on the East Side of Youngstown.

Robin dedicated his life to service, enlisting in the Army in 1976 and retiring with the rank of Captain. During his time in the service, he earned the following decorations and citations: his Parachutist Badge, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, and Sharpshooter Qualification Badge with a .45 caliber pistol.

Beyond his military career, Robin was a veteran representative at the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services. He retired from the state in 2001. He was an avid swimmer, former football coach for several area high school teams and an active member of MOAA, the Knights of Columbus and Christ Our Savior Parish-St. Nicholas Church.

Robin is survived by his two children, Brent (Holly) Hanni and Kimberly (Jarrod) Vrabel; and his five grandchildren, Vanessa, Anthony, Ethan, Noah and Maria; as well as numerous siblings, cousins, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of over 51 years, the former Anna May “Gagaruk” Charles.

Family and friends may pay their respects to Robin from 10 to 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2025, at Christ Our Savior Parish-St. Nicholas Church, 764 5th St., Struthers, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m.

Robin will be laid to rest privately with his family in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, where full military honors will be provided by great men and women of the United States Army.
