Raymond “Ray” Palen (Palombaro) 1932-2025

NILES — Raymond Palen (Palombaro), 92, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Thursday morning, Oct. 16, 2025, at Hospice House.

Ray was born Oct. 25, 1932, to Frank and Frances (Pauline) Palombaro.

Ray grew up surrounded by love, laughter and a strong sense of family. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War, a dedicated businessman and a lifelong member of the Niles Red Dragon community. His passion and loyalty to Niles football and the Frontliners were unwavering; he never missed a game and proudly supported his team through every season. Above all, his most cherished titles were husband, father and grandfather.

Ray is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie Panko Palen; his children, Denise (John) Holloway and Brian Palen; and his grandchildren, Emily Holloway, Sarah (Nick) Lucente and Michael Holloway. He also leaves behind his sister, Diane “Dolly” (David) Leskovec; his brother, David “Butch” (Millie) Palombaro; his sister-in-law, Nancy (Charles) Nestor; and his beloved pets, Simba and Rex, who were constant companions.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Frances (Pauline) Palombaro; his sisters, Mary (Terry) Pasquale and Madeline (Gil) DiNardo; and his brothers, Guy “Duke” (Angie) Palombaro, and Pam and Virginia Palombaro.

Ray’s love for family extended far beyond his home; he held a special place in his heart for his many nieces and nephews, and looked forward to every summer, especially the July 4th pool parties that brought everyone together.

Those who knew Ray will agree that in his next life, he’ll be a DoorDash driver for St. Anthony’s Pizza, ensuring everyone gets a hot slice, delivered with a beep and a smile. He would be delighted to share a slice of St. Anthony’s pizza in this life and the next.

Even though his time was short at Hospice House, a special thank you goes to the compassionate and caring staff for your unwavering dedication to your work. It truly is a slice of heaven on earth.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025, at St. Rose Church, 48 E. Main St., Girard.

Interment will follow in Niles Union Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kinnick Funeral Home in Girard. Visit kinnickfuneralhome.com to send condolences to Ray’s family.
