Ramon Gutierrez Sr. 1961-2025

YOUNGSTOWN — Ramon “Ray” Gutierrez Sr., 64, passed away Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born June 18, 1961, Ray was the beloved son of the late Juan and Orline Martinez Gutierrez.

Ray graduated from Wilson High School in 1979. After graduation, he began his career in the aluminum extrusion industry, later retiring from Easco Aluminum. After 15 years of dedicated service working for Dr. Chahine at The Blood and Cancer Center in Canfield, he retired in 2017.

Ray was an avid bocce and dart player. He was a proud member of the Arco Club, Pacentro Club, MVR and St. Anthony’s Society, where he enjoyed playing bocce with his sons, Chooch and Ruben, and many close friends. Ray also loved singing karaoke and traveling with those he cared about most. He was a Little League baseball coach for the Uptown Kiwanis.

He leaves to cherish his memory, five children, Ramon Jr. “Chooch” (Taylor) Gutierrez and Ruben (Kelsey) Gutierrez, both of Struthers, Rosendo (Danielle) Gutierrez of Poland, Angela Wilk of Campbell and Gabrielle Gutierrez of Austintown. He also leaves his great-nephew, Eric Gutierrez of Struthers, whom he lovingly raised as a son.

Ray was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren, Malik, Lorenzo, Eliana, Melina, Cecilia, Elijah, Nico and Micah.

He is also survived by his siblings, Socorro (Gary) West, Shelly (Larry) Poracky, Eva (Joe) Hnat, Lupe (Alfredo) Crispin, Bonnie Zoldak, Suely (Luis) Garcia, Tony (Vickie) Gutierrez, Roy (Janet) Gutierrez and Fidel (Sue) Gutierrez; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his brothers, Alvino, Rosendo, Juan and Leo Gutierrez; and by his brother-in-law, Joseph Zoldak.

Ray will be remembered for his kindness, humor and passion for bocce. His laughter and generous spirit touched everyone who knew him.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who have shared their thoughts, prayers and fond memories of Ray; they are deeply appreciated.
