Ozelma E. Hamrock 1956-2025

HUBBARD – Ozelma E. Hamrock, 69, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at home.
Ozelma was born Aug. 31, 1956, in Youngstown, a daughter of William Stewart and Mary Jane Hughes Brice.
Ozelma was a lifelong Hubbard resident, growing up on the family farm in Hubbard Township. She was a 1974 Hubbard High School graduate and attended Covenant Life Fellowship Church in Hubbard. She graduated from cosmetology school in 1975.
She started working as a dietary aide at North Side Hospital in 1976, later becoming a surgical orderly and then a state certified pharmacy technician, which is then that she met the love of her life, Ed Hamrock, whom she married Sept. 20, 2003. She retired in 2018 after 42 years at the hospital.
She was a lifetime member of the Mahoning Sportsmen’s Association. She enjoyed trips to the Outer Banks with her family, swimming at the sportsmen’s lake, farming and animals. Ozelma enjoyed canoeing in Cook Forest with her husband, going to garage sales and flea markets looking for treasures, and going to watch the Tribe play.
There was nothing she couldn’t cook or grow to perfection, and she so loved doing it. She made homemade birthday and holiday cakes, and her homemade dinners, after a long day of making hay, will be greatly missed. She loved being with her grandchildren; she supported them and attended all of their activities. Gram was always right next door making sure to have plenty of ice cream and snacks for them.
Ozelma was loved by so many. She gave of herself selflessly, always willing to help whoever needed it.
She leaves her husband, Edward; a son, Ken (Lacey) Steepleton; a daughter, Mary (fiance, George Crouch) Steepleton, all of Hubbard; a brother, Gary Brice of Arizona; a sister, Nancy Brice of Hubbard; two grandchildren, Madison Grace and Wyatt Brice Steepleton; two brothers-in-law, Ron Hamrock and Ed Wittenaur; a sister-in-law, Judy Gregory; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved cats, Blackberry and Cheyenne.
Ozelma was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Bonnie Brice.
Family and friends may call 3:30 to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, at Covenant Life Fellowship Church, 5900 West Liberty St., Hubbard, OH 44425. A celebration of life will begin at 5 p.m. at the church.
