Norma J. Holleran 1937-2025
MELBOURNE, Fla. — It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Norma Jean Holleran on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, at the age of 88, at Melbourne Terrace Rehab Center.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., Norma is survived by her loving daughter, Carol (Chet) Brewer, and her two devoted sons, Ed (Jami) Holleran and Larry (Lisa) Holleran. She was the cherished grandmother of Skyler (Kirra) Brooks, Christy Perkins, Cari Holmes Hash, Michael A. Holleran and Zoe (Justin) Ellis; as well as being a great-grandmother and friend to many.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Michael G. and James J. Holleran; sister, Carol Taylor; and parents, Edward and Elise McCool.
She will be remembered for her tireless support of the activities of her five children in Petersburg and her service to the community as a lector and Eucharistic minister with St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.
She was possibly the first female firefighter in Springfield Township, as a requirement to serve as a volunteer EMT. After becoming licensed as a paramedic, she worked on ambulances in the Youngstown area before transitioning to a position as marketing and admissions coordinator with Integrated Health Services at Colonial Manor, remaining active in the American Business Women’s Association Emerald Green Chapter, Ohio Association of Emergency Medical Services, and fundraising for the Eastern Regional Kidney Foundation and IHS charities.
After moving to Florida, Norma was employed in health care and by eBay, and also volunteered as a greeter at St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Palm Bay Police Department.
We celebrate a life dedicated to selfless service, whose tireless volunteering touched countless lives and strengthened her community. We find comfort in the memories that will never fade.
A graveside service will take place at noon Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, at Petersburg Cemetery in Petersburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to OAEMS or Eastern Regional Kidney Foundation in memory of Norma, or you can order a tree from the funeral home website in her name.
