Nancy Uber 1946-2025

YOUNGSTOWN — Nancy Uber, age 79, departed this earthly life and entered a new adventure Friday, Oct. 10, 2025.

Nancy was born in 1946 in Hamtramck, Michigan, to Casimer and Helen Janowski Lemankiewicz.

She married Thomas E. Uber Jr. of Youngstown, on June 5, 1965. Five children were born from their union.

During her employment career, Nancy worked for the Internal Revenue Service, the Diocese of Youngstown, and the Area Agency on Aging 11, Inc. She also worked part time at Beeghly Oaks and Sunrise Senior Living. Nancy retired from full-time employment in 2012.

Those preceding Nancy in death were her parents; her husband, Tom (on Jan. 1, 1997); her brother, Walt; and her granddaughter Victoria Martin.

Children are Christine (Wil) Martin of Fort Thomas, Kentucky, Helena (Darren) Wamble of Oneonta, Alabama, Wendy (Ron) Bartholomew and Bonnie (Dave) Thomas, both of Struthers, and Thomas (Jessica) Uber III of Columbus. Blessings were added by grandchildren, Abigail (Wambugu Kironji), William, Dominic, Jonah and Christopher Martin, Sabrina Bartholomew, David, Nancy (Tim Sexton), Shelby (Nick Reed) and Xena Thomas, and Riley, Thomas IV, Joseph and Henry Uber.

Besides her children and grandchildren, Nancy is survived by her brother, Ray (Linda) of Minden, Michigan; her sister-in-law, Joan Beeson of Campbell; many very dear and special nieces and nephews; and her loyal and beloved dog, EdGrrr.

If you knew Nancy, you were aware of what she enjoyed doing in life, her travels and adventures. If you did not know her, listing those things here would serve no purpose. That was her belief. For family and friends, her favorite sayings were “Remember you are greatly loved” and “All I ask of you is forever to remember me as loving you.”

Condolences may be extended to the family from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers, and from 9:15 a.m. until the time of prayer service at 10:15 a.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Christ Our Savior Parish-St. Nicholas Church in Struthers.

Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Lowellville.

In lieu of flowers, please do a random act of kindness for a senior person — visit, take the person to brunch or lunch, or offer to do a chore for him or her. That was Nancy’s wish.
