Nadyne C. Sweetko 1950-2025
HENDERSON, Nev. — Nadyne Cecelia Sweetko, 75, passed away in the comfort of her home in the early hours of Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, with her husband and children by her side and surrounded by the love of family and friends.
She was born April 5, 1950, in Youngstown, a daughter of William J. and Kathryn Smalleck Coss.
Nadyne was a Lowellville girl and a 1968 graduate of Lowellville High School.
She married the love of her life, Thomas Michael Sweetko, on Oct. 17, 1970, at Holy Rosary Parish in Lowellville, and they shared 55 wonderful years of marriage.
Nadyne worked as a telephone operator for the Ohio Bell Telephone Co., where she established many good friendships. She also worked for Tri-County Credit Union of Greater Nevada in their clerical and loan department. She also was employed at The Reno Gazette-Journal Newspaper and The Las Vegas Review-Journal in their advertising and clerical departments.
She was a devout Catholic in her faith and was a parishioner at St. Thomas More in Henderson, Nevada. She was a Eucharistic minister and would help the church whenever needed.
Above all, Nadyne’s greatest joy and purpose was her family. She relocated with her husband for work and loved the adventures they shared. She was always devoted to her family, putting their needs before her own, from caring for her parents to creating special memories with her grandchildren and everything in between. She continually gave 100% as a wife, mother, homemaker and friend.
Nadyne is survived by her loving husband, Thomas; her daughters, Mary Kay (Jim) DeSellems of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Amy (David) Zatvarnicky of Girard; four grandchildren, Tommy DeSellems of Reno, Nevada, Victoria Daquelente of Hubbard, Jenna DeSellems of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Brooke Zatvarnicky of Girard; and a sister, Debbie (David) Notareschi of Las Vegas, Nevada.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, James F. and David M. Coss.
A special “Thank You” goes out to Angie Notareschi and Christine Notareschi-Rinard of Las Vegas, Nevada, for all the kind support given to our family. Nadyne’s family would also like to thank family and friends for their thoughts and prayers during this journey.
The Sweetko family has entrusted Nadyne’s care to the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell.
Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2025, at the funeral home, and 9:45 to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, with a prayer service at 10:15 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Rosary Parish in Lowellville.
The family kindly requests that donations be made to Villa Maria Convent in Pulaski, Pa., which was one of Nadyne’s favorite places to visit.
