Mary J. Hunt 1934-2025

Mary was born on Holy Thursday, March 29, 1934, at home in Hubbard, a daughter of Anthony J. and Theresa D. Tucciarone Scarpine and was a lifelong Hubbard resident.

Mary Jean was a member of the St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and a former member of St. Bernadette Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister.

She was a 1952 graduate of Hubbard High School. She earned her nursing diploma from Youngstown Hospital Association, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in applied science from The Youngstown State University.

She was the Hubbard School nurse for 28 years, retiring in 2002. Mary said the kids at school were her life.

Mary Jean married William D. Hunt on Aug. 29, 1970. He preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 1991.

She leaves a son, William F. (Melanie) Hunt, of Delaware, Ohio; a daughter, Terri Hunt, of Hubbard; six grandchildren, Sam, Erin, Elise, Joseph, Jonathan and Emma Jean.

Mary Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Anthony J. Scarpine Jr.; and a sister, Ann (Liz) Rudinsky.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, at the Kelley-Cummins Funeral Home.

Prayers will be at 9:15 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, at the Kelley-Cummins Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Hubbard, with Msgr. Peter Polando officiating.

Interment will be at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
