Marjorie A. Downs 1941-2025

She was born Sept. 5, 1941, in Cleveland, a daughter of Herbert Sr. and Anna Dorazio Crissman.

After graduating high school and getting married, Marjorie spent her adult life as a homemaker, raising and caring for her family. She married the love of her life, Frederick L. Downs on Nov. 17, 1962. Together they shared nearly 63 years of marriage and many wonderful memories.

They weren’t apart for long, for Fred preceded her in death just a few days ago on Oct. 10, 2025.

Marjorie was a former longtime member of the Old North Church in Canfield, where she was active in the ladies quilting group. She loved cooking and baking, making delicious meals and treats for her loved ones.

Family was everything to Marjorie and she was happiest when she was working away in her sewing room, making beautiful gifts for those she loved. She was a kind, loving wife, mother and grandmother, who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by two children, Troy (Debbie) Downs, of Richmond, Virginia, and Anne Marie Downs, of Austintown. She also leaves behind a brother, Paul (Pat) Crissman, of Putneyville, Pa.; two granddaughters, Rachael (Jordan) Hutchinson and Sarah Downs; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends; and her beloved granddog, Maggie.

Besides her husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Herbert Crissman Jr.; and a sister, Shirley Wiltse.

Private funeral services will be held at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Austintown.

She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in the Brunstetter Cemetery, Austintown.
