James F. Walker 1940-2025

POLAND — James Frederick “Jim” Walker, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

Jim was born July 9, 1940, in Pittsburgh, Pa., a son of the late James Kenneth and Jean Sloane Walker.

He graduated from Westinghouse Memorial High School in Wilmerding, Pa., in 1958 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Youngstown State University in 1972. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962, stationed with the 3rd Armored Division.

Jim’s professional career in tax accounting began at Clark and Collins and Alexander Grant and Co., after which he established his own successful tax practice. His lifelong volunteer efforts included serving on various committees and boards at Poland Presbyterian Church and the United Way, among others.

Jim is survived by his son, James Scott (Tricia) Walker of Arlington, Massachusetts; his beloved grandson, James Hugus Walker; his brother, David K. (Elizabeth) Walker of Waynesburg, Pa.; his former wife, Sally (Arnold) Walker of Boardman; and cherished nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Kristi K. Walker.

As we remember Jim Walker, we celebrate a life marked by love, service and faith. His memory will be cherished in the hearts of his loved ones forever.

Jim will be laid to rest, with military honors, 2:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, OH 44273.

Family and friends may call 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025, at Poland Presbyterian Church, 2 Manor Ave., Poland OH 44514. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m.
