Fred J. Noday Jr. 1945-2025
AUSTINTOWN — Fred J. Noday Jr., 79, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.
Born Dec. 27, 1945, in Youngstown, he was the son of the late Fred J. Sr. and Georgia Lynn Noday.
Fred was a 1963 graduate of Chaney High School. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, where he was named the Outstanding Marine in his platoon at Parris Island. A lifelong Marine at heart, Fred religiously completed 330 push-ups and 300 sit-ups every morning for more than 40 years.
He built a successful career as an accomplished salesman for NCR before becoming owner and operator of Direct Mail Marketing, which he ran for 35 years.
Fred was a consummate salesman who loved meeting people, serving customers throughout the Valley and creating lasting relationships.
A man of faith, Fred was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Boardman, where he served on the church council and the endowment board.
Fred found great joy in coaching youth football for the Austintown Little Falcons and Canfield Little Cardinals, and was active in the Austintown Rotary Club. He loved supporting his sons and grandchildren in their many sports, as well as upholding family traditions like Friday nights at Trax Lounge and the annual Chenowith-Noday family trip to Cedar Point.
He enjoyed golf, weightlifting, hunting, fishing and cooking. He also was a devoted Cleveland Browns and Indians fan.
Fred will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He leaves behind his wife, Susan (Faiver), whom he married May 28, 1982; his sons, Fred R. (Danielle) Noday Sr., Daniel A. (Alyssa Overmyer) Noday and Marc D. Noday; and his grandchildren, Franchesca, Miranda and Freddy. He also is survived by his brother, Richard (Teddi) Noday; brother-in-law and lifelong best friend, Leonard Young; nieces, Lori and Joy (Joe); nephew, Eric; brother-in-law, Chris Faiver; sister-in-law, Carolyn Faiver; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Hope Young; and his faithful dachshund, Butterscotch, whom he affectionately called Butter.
Fred’s family would like to thank his caregivers and friends at Victoria House, Continuing Healthcare of Boardman, Washington Square Healthcare, and nurse Courtney at St. Joseph Warren Hospital.
Family and friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, at Lane Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Drive, with calling hours one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Wounded Warrior Project and Bethel Lutheran Church.
