Dennis J. Lightner 1953-2025

Denny was born May 21, 1953, in Youngstown, a son of the late Steve Lightner and Irene Galmish Lightner. He attended North High School.

He had a body shop where he repaired cars, worked for the Lyden Oil Company and drove a school bus for Youngstown City Schools.

Fishing and hunting were just a few of Denny’s passions. He also enjoyed playing baseball and making crafts to sell or give away.

Denny attended Victory Christian Center Church for many years.

Along with his devoted partner, Erin Johnson, Denny leaves behind his two children, Jim (Antonietta) Lightner and April Shine; four grandchildren, Anthony, Makayla, Markyra and Alexis; three great-grandchildren, Za’nova, Ki’laya and Na’es; his sister, Geri Sopkovich, along with many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Wilson.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Margie Gould Lightner; brothers, Richard Lightner and Albert Lightner; and his furry companions, Sandy, Buffy, Ginger and Char.

Denny will be missed by all who knew him.

Per his wishes, there will be no services or calling hours.
