David E. Grimm 1942-2025

LOWELLVILLE — David E. Grimm passed away Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025.
Born Aug. 23, 1942, at his grandparents’ home, David was the second son of Eugene and Matilda Gillen Grimm.
A 1960 graduate of Poland Seminary High School, David went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army, achieving the rank of sergeant during his two years of active duty.
He owned and operated a Sohio gas station at the corner of U.S. Route 224 and Center Road for many years. In the 1970s, David began his career with Ohio Edison, starting as a tree trimmer and working his way up to the rank of A lineman, a role he held with pride and dedication.
For three decades, David also served as an electrician at the Canfield Fair. Each year, he would declare, “This is my last year at the fair!” He finally retired from the fair in 2022 at the age of 80.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, and he was a longtime member of the Lowellville Rod and Gun Club, where he volunteered at fish fries and countless other events. Hard working and a staunch Republican, his favorite saying was “It is what it is.”
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Toth Grimm, whom he married May 15, 1964; his daughter, Kimberly (Bob) Vrabel of Struthers; and his cherished grandchildren, Patrick and Taylor Slattery, both of Poland. He also is survived by his brother, Joseph (Margaret) Grimm of Youngstown; his sister-in-law, Barbara Grimm of Lowellville; former son-in-law, Pat Slattery of Lowellville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tammy Dunkel; brothers, Richard A. Grimm and Gary L. Grimm; and great-nephew, Dylan Lupton.
In keeping with David’s wishes, there will be no services.
