Carl E. Rummel Jr. 1942-2025
NEW SPRINGFIELD — Carl “Junior” Edward Rummel Jr., 83, passed away unexpectedly, early Sunday morning, Oct. 26, 2025, at Hospice House in Poland, surrounded by his family.
Junior, as he was known, was born May 27, 1942, in Youngstown, a son of Carl Sr. and Edna Ziegler Rummel. A lifelong area resident, he graduated from New Springfield High School.
Junior enlisted in the U.S. Marines; he retired after working at the Oaks Foundry as a molder for many years.
He enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden and collecting coins and stamps.
Junior leaves to cherish his precious memory, his wife of 59 years, the former Peggy Belcher, whom he married Aug. 6, 1966; two daughters, Dawn and Wendy Rummel; sister, Marilyn Pekkanen; brother, Larry Rummel; sisters, Carolyn Oesch and Arlene (Gerald) Okey; nieces and nephews, Billy Pekkanen, Kimmy Shetter and Rick Pekkanen; as well as many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved fox terrier, Izzy.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, at Columbiana Baptist Church, 44420 Heck Road, Columbiana, with Pastor Jeff Jamieson officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
Due to the unforeseen nature of Carl’s passing, contributions to the family are deeply appreciated in place of floral arrangements.
