Barbara Turkal 1943-2025
NORTH LIMA — Barbara Turkal passed away at age 82 on Monday, Oct. 13, 2025.
She was born April 15, 1943, in Youngstown, a daughter of Joseph and Irene Torok Grizinski.
Barbara graduated in 1961 from Boardman High School. Her first job after graduation was at Gorant Candies. She then found employment at General Electric in Youngstown, remaining there until the GE lamp plant’s closing. She worked on their factory line in the packing department. In addition, she had training as a cosmetologist.
She spent the last 18 years of her life at Willow Woods Rehabilitation and Nursing Center due to a variety of disabling conditions.
She enjoyed attending family events and loved watching Western TV shows from the 1950s and 1960s, including “Gunsmoke,” “Bonanza” and “Laramie.”
She leaves to cherish her memories, her sister, Liz (Tim) Baynes; her brother, Richard Grizinski; nieces, Amy (Josh) and Jessica; nephews, Mark (Sarah) and Brian; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Irene Grizinski; uncles, Paul Torok, Frank (Mary) Torok, John Grizinski and Ted (Marian) Grizinski; and sister-in-law, Catherine Grizinski.
Barbara’s care has been entrusted to the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell, where private services were held Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2025.
The family extends a special thank you for the care and support that Barbara received by the staff at Willow Woods and AKESO Health Care.
