Arthur Marrie 1937-2025

BOARDMAN — Arthur Francis “Art” Marrie, 87, a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025, at his home.

Born Dec. 6, 1937, in Youngstown, Art was the son of the late Michael and Bernice Snyder Marrie.

He was a 1955 graduate of Boardman High School. He later served in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Art dedicated 39 years of his career to the banking industry, beginning at Union National Bank in downtown Youngstown, which later became Bank One. He retired as vice president of finance in 1996. Thereafter, Art worked as an office clerk at Hynes Industries in Youngstown for 20 years.

A devoted member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Boardman, Art was active in the men’s Bible study, served as a Sunday collection counter, helped in reviewing the church finances and remained a faithful presence in the congregation.

Art enjoyed spending time outdoors, working in his yard and watching football. He and his beloved wife, Susan, shared a love of music and frequently attended outdoor concerts and band performances in the area.

He is survived by his daughter, Colleen S. (Michael) Robek of Slingerlands, New York; his sister, Linda Melek of Boardman; his sister-in-law, Holly Marrie of Paradise Valley, Arizona; one nephew; and several nieces.

In addition to his parents, Art was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Susan R. Redman Marrie, whom he married on Nov. 9, 1963, at Immanuel Lutheran Church; Susan passed away on Jan. 27, 2023.

Art was also preceded in death by his brother, Michael Marrie; his sister, Kathryn Carlson; and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Melek and Richard Carlson.

Family and friends may call from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Drive, Boardman. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Richard Kidd.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Drive, Boardman, OH 44512, in memory of Art.
