Alice H. Csejtey 1951-2025
YOUNGSTOWN — Alice H. Csejtey, 74, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, at her home.
Born May 27, 1951, in Youngstown, Alice was the daughter of the late Joseph “Curley” and Rose M. Tkach Halaparda. She was a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley and remained deeply connected to her community throughout her life.
Alice attended St. Matthias grade school and graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School in 1969. She spent her career in banking, working as a bank teller for First National Bank in downtown Youngstown for over 14 years before retiring in August 2025. Over her 35-year career, she also worked with Mahoning Bank, Sky Bank and Huntington Bank, all in Youngstown.
A devoted Catholic, Alice was a member of St. Patrick Church on Oak Hill and also attended St. Matthias Church, Our Lady of Sorrows and St. Dominic Church.
More than anything, Alice cherished her role as a mother, grandmother and sister. She treasured every moment spent with her daughter, Marnee, and granddaughter, McKenna, who were the lights of her life.
Alice is survived by her beloved daughter, Marnee M. (Michael) Sweeney of New Middletown; her cherished granddaughter, McKenna M. Sweeney; her sister, Rosalie Chalk of Falls Church, Virginia; and her nieces and nephew, Wendy McKean, Shannon Chalk-Kwon, Kerry Bullock, Holly Radcliff, Kami Bacon and James Chalk.
In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her sister, Delphine Kosmo.
Family and friends may call 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025, at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, 2025, at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish-St. Matthias Church, 915 Cornell St., Youngstown, with Father John Jerek officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Youngstown.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to Cardinal Mooney High School, 2545 Erie St., Youngstown, OH 44507, in Alice’s memory.
