Patricia Rugo 1964-2025

She was born Aug. 9, 1964, in Youngstown, a daughter of Louis and Edna Angles Rugo.

Patti was a 1982 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School. She attended Kent State University and achieved a Bachelor of Education degree in 1986 and then returned to school and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in occupational therapy from Eastern Kentucky University in 2001.

She worked as an occupational therapist for the Educational Service Center of Eastern Ohio for many years in the Austintown Local School District.

She was a longtime member of Highway Tabernacle Church in Austintown, where she was involved with the children’s ministry and small group leadership.

Patti enjoyed gardening and traveling, especially taking day trips. Her greatest joy was spending time with her sisters and family, especially her nephew and his daughters.

Patti is survived by three sisters, Kathryn Becker of Medina, Marilou (Alex) Gerena of Columbus and Peggy Chester of Richmond, Texas. She also leaves behind a nephew, Kurt (Hanna) Becker, and two great-nieces, Anastasia and Tatiana.

Patti was preceded in death by her parents and an uncle, Lester Rugo.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at Highway Tabernacle Church Fellowship Hall, 3000 S. Raccoon Road, Youngstown, OH 44515.

She will be laid to rest in Brunstetter Cemetery, Austintown Township.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Patti’s memory to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, OH 44514 or the Highway Tabernacle Church Missions Program.
